Clark Beeker named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week and Twins Minor League Player of the Week

Cedar Rapids, IA – The Midwest League and MiLB.com announced Monday that for the second week in a row, Kernels pitcher Clark Beeker has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending August 6th. In addition, the Minnesota Twins announced that Beeker was named the Twins Minor League Player of the Week for the period ending August 5th.

Beeker allowed just four hits and no runs over 8.2 IP while striking out seven in a no-decision effort against Kane County on August 4th. In his last two starts he has allowed nine hits, struck out 14 and walked none over 17.2 IP. The Twins selected Beeker in the 33rd round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Davidson College.

Jared Walker of Great Lakes was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the same period.

This is the fifth time this season a Kernel has received Midwest League weekly honors and Beeker is the first to earn honors in consecutive weeks (July 31st and August 6th). The others are Travis Blankenhorn (June 21st), Lewin Diaz (May 7th) and Jermaine Palacios (April 23rd).
